La Marea Cafe is the partnership of two former Santa Cruz pop ups which frequented the Westside Santa Cruz Farmer’s Market – ‘Jayne Dough Pizza’ and ‘Syllable Coffee’.

Meaning ‘the tide’  in Italian, La Marea is a cozy seaside spot specializing in sourdough pan pizza & sourdough bagels  served alongside specialty coffee. Everything is made from scratch with care in our little kitchen.

Our pizza is Detroit-inspired considering it is baked in steel pans and showcases a crispy, cheese crown all along the edge, however it is undeniably California in style with its fluffy sourdough focaccia base and locally sourced and seasonal toppings. We offer a rotating list of by the slice options plus full 8”x10” pies to enjoy in cafe or for take away. Because our hours are more cafe-like, we offer the option to get your pizza ‘cooked gently’ in order to reheat at home and we also sell vacuum-sealed take & bake pies that can be refrigerated for up to a week or frozen for a month.
